Churchill’s is a renowned wine producer, known for its exceptional quality and unique approach to winemaking. Based in the Douro Valley, Portugal, Churchill’s has established itself as one of the premier producers in the region and has gained international recognition for its wines.

The story of Churchill’s dates back to 1981, when John Graham, a British ex-pat, and his wife Caroline, bought Quinta da Gricha, a small estate in the Douro Valley. John had a passion for Port wine and was determined to create his own blend that would stand out in the market. With the help of his son Johnny, they set out to create a distinguished brand that would represent the best of the Douro Valley.

The Douro Valley, located in northern Portugal, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is known for its rugged terrain, steep hillsides, and Mediterranean climate. The region is renowned for producing high-quality wines, particularly Port wine, which is made from a blend of different grape varieties, including Touriga Nacional, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Franca.

Churchill’s focus on creating unique and exceptional wines is reflected in their production process. They use traditional winemaking methods, combined with modern techniques, to produce their wines. One of their signature techniques is foot-treading, where the grapes are crushed by foot in stone tanks called "lagares," allowing for gentle extraction of the juices and ensuring the best possible flavor.

The wines produced by Churchill’s are a reflection of the terroir of the Douro Valley, with intense flavors and a balance of fruit and acidity. Their range includes both Port and still wines, with the latter gaining popularity in recent years. Their iconic Port wines, including the Churchill’s Reserve, Churchill’s Late Bottled Vintage, and Churchill’s Vintage, have received numerous accolades and high ratings from critics.
