Chartreuse Diffusion

Chartreuse Diffusion is a world-renowned producer of the iconic Chartreuse liqueur, hailing from the picturesque region of Isère in the French Alps. This historic producer has been crafting their signature green and yellow elixirs for over 400 years, making them one of the oldest and most revered liquor producers in the world.

The story of Chartreuse Diffusion begins in 1605, when the Capuchin monks of the Grande Chartreuse monastery were given a secret recipe for an herbal elixir by a local marshal. The recipe was said to have been created by a 16th century alchemist, and the monks were tasked with producing the elixir for medicinal purposes. The monks perfected the recipe and began selling it to the public in 1764, creating the Chartreuse brand that we know today.

The Isère region, where the Chartreuse monastery is located, is known for its lush green landscapes, towering mountains, and tranquil valleys. This serene environment is the perfect setting for the production of Chartreuse liqueur, as the region is abundant in the herbs and botanicals that give the liqueur its unique flavor. The monks still use the same natural ingredients and methods that have been passed down for centuries, making Chartreuse a truly artisanal product.

Chartreuse Diffusion produces two main varieties of liqueur: the Chartreuse Green and the Chartreuse Yellow. The Chartreuse Green is a complex and powerful liqueur, made with 130 different herbs and aged in oak casks for several years. It has a distinct herbal and floral bouquet, with notes of anise, mint, and cinnamon. The Chartreuse Yellow, on the other hand, is a milder and sweeter version of the Green, with a softer and smoother taste.

In addition to their iconic liqueurs, Chartreuse Diffusion also produces a range of other products, including a cream liqueur, a chocolate liqueur, and a range of herbal liqueurs and aperit
