Located in the heart of Saint-Emilion, Château Quintus is a renowned wine producer that has been making exceptional wines for over two centuries. The estate is situated on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, in the prestigious appellation of Saint-Emilion, known for its world-class wines.
The history of Château Quintus dates back to the 18th century when it was known as Château Tetre Daugay. In 2011, the château was purchased by Domaine Clarence Dillon, the owners of the famous Château Haut-Brion and Château La Mission Haut-Brion. The new owners renamed the estate Château Quintus, inspired by the Roman term for a fifth growth, reflecting the quality and potential of the estate.
The vineyards of Château Quintus are spread over 28 hectares of land, with a majority planted with Merlot, the dominant grape variety of the Saint-Emilion region. The remaining vineyards are planted with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, which add complexity and structure to the wines. The vineyards are managed with utmost care, following sustainable and organic practices. This allows the grapes to express their full potential and terroir, resulting in wines with great finesse and character.
Château Quintus produces three different wines: the Grand Vin, Le Dragon de Quintus (the second wine), and the single-varietal Merlot, Le Petit Quintus. The Grand Vin is a blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, aged for 18-24 months in French oak barrels. It is a powerful and elegant wine, with aromas of black fruits, spices, and a touch of smokiness. The Le Dragon de Quintus is a more approachable and fruit-forward wine, perfect for everyday drinking. Le Petit Quintus, on the other hand, is a limited production wine, made from a single grape variety, and only
