Screaming Eagle

Screaming Eagle is a prestigious winery located in the Napa Valley region of California. Known for producing some of the most sought-after and expensive wines in the world, Screaming Eagle has become synonymous with luxury and quality.

The winery was founded in 1986 by Jean Phillips, a former real estate agent who had a passion for winemaking. She purchased a 57-acre property in Oakville and planted a small vineyard of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. With the help of renowned winemaker Heidi Barrett, Screaming Eagle released its first vintage in 1992, which quickly gained critical acclaim and a cult following.

The winery's name comes from the red-tailed hawks that can be seen soaring above the vineyards, their distinctive cries giving the impression of a "screaming eagle." This name also reflects the intense and powerful nature of the wines produced here.

Screaming Eagle is located in the Oakville American Viticultural Area (AVA), which is known for its ideal climate and soil conditions for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. The region's warm days and cool nights, along with the well-draining soil, result in grapes with concentrated flavors and balanced acidity. The winery also sources grapes from neighboring AVAs, including Rutherford and Stags Leap.

The winemaking philosophy at Screaming Eagle is centered around producing small quantities of exceptional wines. The winery's flagship wine, the Screaming Eagle Cabernet Sauvignon, is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before undergoing a gentle fermentation process. The wine is then aged in French oak barrels for about two years before bottling.

Screaming Eagle's wines have received numerous accolades and high scores from wine critics, cementing their status as some of the most coveted and collectible wines in the world. Due to their limited production and high demand, these wines can
