Riccadonna

Riccadonna is a renowned wine producer located in the Piedmont region of Italy. Founded in 1921 by Umberto Riccadonna, this family-owned winery has been dedicated to producing high-quality sparkling wines for almost a century.

The winery is situated in the small town of Canelli, which is known as the "City of Wine" due to its rich history in wine production. This region is also recognized as the birthplace of the famous Italian sparkling wine, Asti Spumante. The unique climate and soil conditions of Piedmont, along with the expertise of the Riccadonna family, have contributed to the exceptional quality of their wines.

Riccadonna is most famous for its Asti Spumante, a sweet sparkling wine made from the Moscato Bianco grape. This wine is produced using the Charmat method, where the secondary fermentation takes place in large pressurized tanks rather than in individual bottles. This method allows for a more efficient and consistent production of sparkling wines, while also preserving the delicate aromas and flavors of the grapes. Riccadonna's Asti Spumante is known for its intense aromas of peach, apricot, and honey, with a refreshing and lively palate.

Aside from Asti Spumante, Riccadonna also produces other sparkling wines such as Moscato d'Asti, a slightly sweeter and lower alcohol version of Asti Spumante, and Prosecco, a dry and crisp sparkling wine made from the Glera grape. These wines are perfect for any occasion, from a casual brunch to a special celebration.

In addition to their sparkling wines, Riccadonna also produces still wines such as Barbera, Dolcetto, and Nebbiolo, which are all native grape varieties of Piedmont. These wines are aged in oak barrels to enhance their complexity and structure, and they pair well with a variety of dishes, particularly traditional Italian cuisine.
