Domaine Barge

Domaine Barge is a renowned wine producer located in the Northern Rhône region of France. Family-owned and operated since 1870, this winery has a long and rich history of producing exceptional wines that truly capture the essence of their terroir.

The winery is located in the small village of Ampuis, which is considered the heart of the Côte-Rôtie appellation. This appellation is known for its steep, terraced vineyards and its unique terroir, which is a combination of granite and schist soils. This terroir, combined with the winery's traditional winemaking techniques, results in wines with intense aromas, vibrant fruit flavors, and a distinct minerality.

Domaine Barge is now run by the fifth generation of the Barge family, brothers Jean-Louis and Philippe. They are dedicated to continuing their family's winemaking legacy and producing wines of the highest quality. The brothers are committed to sustainable viticulture and use organic and biodynamic practices in their vineyards. This ensures that their wines not only reflect the unique characteristics of their terroir but also showcase the natural beauty of the region.

The winery produces a range of wines, including Côte-Rôtie, Condrieu, and Saint-Joseph. Their Côte-Rôtie is their flagship wine, and it is considered one of the finest in the appellation. Made from a blend of Syrah and a small percentage of Viognier, the wine is aged in oak barrels for 18-24 months, resulting in a complex, full-bodied wine with notes of dark fruits, spices, and a hint of floral aromas.

Their Condrieu, made from 100% Viognier grapes, is also highly sought after. It is a dry, aromatic wine with a rich and creamy texture and flavors of apricot, honey, and citrus. The winery also produces a limited amount of Saint-Joseph
