Chateau du Cèdre

Located in the heart of the Cahors region in southwest France, the Chateau du Cèdre is a renowned wine producer that has been crafting exceptional wines for over 30 years. The estate is situated on the banks of the Lot River, which provides a unique microclimate and terroir that is ideal for growing Malbec, the flagship grape of the Cahors appellation.

The Chateau du Cèdre was founded in 1958 by Charles Verhaeghe, who was passionate about the potential of Malbec in the Cahors region. He passed on his love for the land and the vines to his sons, Pascal and Jean-Marc, who now run the estate with the same dedication and expertise. The Verhaeghe brothers have continued to push the boundaries of winemaking in Cahors, experimenting with new techniques while staying true to their traditional roots.

The Chateau du Cèdre produces a range of red wines, all made from 100% Malbec, which showcases the unique expression of this varietal in Cahors. The estate's flagship wine is the "Le Cèdre," a premium blend of the best parcels of Malbec from the estate. This wine is aged in new oak barrels for 22 months, resulting in a complex and elegant wine with notes of black fruit, spice, and a hint of vanilla.

In addition to their flagship wine, the Chateau du Cèdre also produces a range of single-vineyard wines, each showcasing a different terroir and style. These wines are a testament to the estate's commitment to expressing the diversity of the Cahors region through their wines.

The Chateau du Cèdre is also known for its sustainable and environmentally friendly practices. The estate has been certified organic since 2012 and uses biodynamic methods to cultivate their vines. This dedication to sustainable viticulture not only produces exceptional wines but also ensures that the land is preserved for future generations.
