4 Kilos

Located on the Spanish island of Mallorca, 4 Kilos is a boutique winery that has made a name for itself in the world of wine. Founded in 2006 by two friends, Francesc Grimalt and Sergio Caballero, 4 Kilos is known for producing high-quality, unique wines that are representative of the island's terroir.

Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands, is best known for its stunning beaches and lively nightlife. However, in recent years, it has also gained recognition for its wine production. The island's warm Mediterranean climate, with its hot, dry summers and mild winters, is ideal for grape cultivation. The island's diverse soil types, ranging from limestone to clay, also contribute to its unique terroir and the distinct character of its wines.

The name 4 Kilos comes from the weight of the first vintage produced by Grimalt and Caballero, which was only four kilograms. This small quantity was due to the fact that the grapes were sourced from old, low-yielding vines, resulting in concentrated and intense flavors. Today, the winery produces around 50,000 bottles per year, but their commitment to quality over quantity remains unchanged.

The winemaking philosophy at 4 Kilos is centered around minimal intervention in the vineyard and the cellar. The grapes are hand-harvested and fermented with native yeasts, allowing for a natural expression of the fruit and terroir. The winery also uses a mix of traditional and modern techniques, such as aging the wines in concrete and clay vessels, to create wines that are both authentic and innovative.

The 4 Kilos portfolio includes a range of red, white, and rosé wines, as well as a sparkling wine and a vermouth. The red wines are predominantly made from the local grape variety, Callet, blended with other indigenous and international varieties. These wines are known for their freshness, elegance, and
